If non-operative treatment fails, we may offer surgery to treat De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis.

The operation involves a tiny incision over the radial styloid where the APL and EPB tendons to the thumb are released from the 1st dorsal compartment of the wrist.

This surgery is now possible using an ultrasound-guided technique using a Hook Knife and hydrodilatation/hydrodissection of any duplicated compartments.
